Where you can read the relatively rational ramblings of a silly half-monkey, half-boy. This freak of nature is named Joel. He also responds to the name 'Bart Wang'.

Why do I continue this? I guess it's a dream that someone somewhere will take an interest in my stupid words. I'm off for a week (11 full days, actually) as of Thursday at 4:30. Of course, I have a 4:45 appointment so it'll be sometime around 5:30. But then I'm free of the bondage of work for a while.
What am I doing, you wonder? Going up north to Barry's Bay! It's my favourite place in the world (aside from my bed on a Saturday morning in the middle of winter). I'm really excited. Melanie and I went out and bought all the non-perishable food and we'll be driving up there on Saturday. Hopefully we'll have a few friends come up with us, at least for a few days of the week. Seven days of relaxation - swimming, boating, fishing and enjoying God's green earth. Awesome.
I'm reading 'An American Childhood' by Annie Dillard still. It's been a while because she has a weird writing style. Maybe not 'weird' but 'uncommon'. It's a difficult read. She can write a whole chapter that has little description of her own life (it's an autobiography) but talks about geological research. Wacky. It's good, just different from what I normally read. I'm not sure what I want to read next. I've got a bunch of options and no clear choice.
I'm going to cut my nails and call some people tonight. A nice, laid-back evening. I should probably do the dishes. The ants have eaten all the leftover food.

I just got in from Windsor, Ontario. Some of you Americans will know Windsor from its appearance in the movie, Bowling For Columbine. It's right across the river from Detroit. It's not that great a city, at least what we saw. Kinda dull. I'm sure there's more there if you were a local. As such, I wasn't overly impressed. But we (Melanie and I) did stay at a wicked bed and breakfast lodging called Ye Olde Walkerville B&B. I felt funny referring to it as the 'B&B' because that was such a big part of Dawson's Creek - the Potter B&B. If you want to see it, go to the website and click on the link on the bottom left of the page.
That's all I have to say about that. I have a frickin' huge canker on my lower lip which has prevented me from eating much since breakfast (which was a wicked omelette made from scratch by the proprietor of the B&B). Gotta shave, then put some trash away. Back to work. Only two weeks away from my northern trek to Barry's Bay. It's been two years in the making and I am so psyched.

Spent the evening with Blondel, Jeff Revill, his brother Mike and Doug Nagy. The word of the night was 'killer'. These boys like to tell stories and they do it well. Blondel and I then chatted about the magazine and what we want to do with it. Still so many unanswered questions... Time for bed.

I wasted an hour and a half of my life last night by watching 'Dumb and Dumberer'. Wow. That movie sucked harder than a vacuum. Whatever you do, don't see that movie. Not on video, not in the re-run theatres, not ever. Sure, the main female character was as hot as an oven (not as hot as Melanie, of course) but she was not worth the money or time because there's no chance she'd give you the time of day if you were to meet her. In fact, she would probably dismiss you because she'd think you had terrible taste in movies since you sat through 'Dumb and Dumberer'. I can't stress it enough - don't go. Sit at home and watch the walls, rent a movie or take a crap for 90 minutes. All those are better uses of your time.
